CAMdroid 2D

About

This project came about because I worked for more than twenty years for an engineering company that 'would not waste money on a CAD system’ (you read that correctly), and which used paper drawings with only the absolute minimum dimensions on them.

I recall sometime during 1996 imagining a programmable graphics calculator which would have buttons for functions needed by machinists (functions to join lines and arcs etc.) and be able to display the result. While I waited for Casio to make such a thing I brooded over the functions I wanted it to have.

I was lucky enough to be born into the home computer generation and to have a VIC 20 in 1982, a very capable computer at the time, on which I spent hours learning to program, it also gave me my first experiences using SIN and COS to create graphics on an X,Y plane. I have not been without a computer that I could program since.

So when in the middle of 2020 I discovered that I had loads of free time I decided to give this project another go, there have been lots of false starts! I hope you find the resulting app a useful aid to G-Code programming.
